Our Chapter History
The New Canaan Chapter was founded in 1992 by a small group of women who envisioned New Canaan as a perfect community for the NCL, Inc. mother/daughter philanthropic experience. On April 21, 1994 the New Canaan Chapter of National Charity League, Inc. received its Charter, and we have approximately 120 Patronesses and 140 Ticktockers participating annually. Soon after our Chapter’s founding, interest in NCL, Inc. Membership was in high demand and a second New Canaan Chapter was formed, the Canaan Parish Chapter.
Our NCL, Inc. neighbors in Fairfield County consist of two Chapters in Ridgefield, one in Redding, one in Westport and the newest one in Fairfield. The New Canaan Chapter develops multi-chapter events with our sister chapters annually for both Ticktockers and Patronesses. Regionally, within our Northeastern District 9, there are 12 NCL, Inc. Chapters which include Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
National Charity League, Inc. is headquartered in Costa Mesa, California and was founded in 1958. There are currently 212 active Chapters in 24 states. The official colors are gold and white and our representative flower is the yellow rose.
Through philanthropic and cultural projects, NCL, Inc. provides a range of opportunities for mothers and daughters to directly impact the lives of others around them, while enhancing their community relationships and developing and deepening their own personal skill sets.
